The new Matalan store opened in Aberdeen a couple of weeks ago and I was lucky to be invited along to see what the store has to offer.
Situated in Berryden Retail Park in the old Toys R Us building (R.I.P childhood), Matalan now has the perfect location for shop goers, compared to its previous location near the beach. This central location will hopefully help the shop thrive.
Matalan kindly gifted myself some vouchers to spend in the store that day so I thought I would share the pieces that I picked up and how I style them.
One thing I would like to note is that if like me you are a petite size 6-8, then you may struggle to find clothing that fits as Matalan sizing starts at a size 8. I luckily did manage to find a few pieces that I absolutely love and fit me wonderfully.
Let’s start with this gorgeous midi skirt. You probably all know by now that I love a midi skirt. I even have a previous post dedicated to the trend here.
This Snake Print Button Front Midi Skirt was the first item I spotted and fell instantly in love with. It’s a beautiful, floaty skirt with the classic snake print that you are seeing everywhere at the moment.
This skirt drew me in, however, not by the snake print, but by the hint of neon pink throughout the design. Neon is another must-have trend this season but is certainly not for the faint of heart. I have been drawn to neon lately but I am not brave enough to wear a full neon outfit, so this skirt helps me bring neon into my wardrobe without appearing like I am away to a rave. This skirt has inspired me so much that I’ve even painted my nails in a matching neon pink polish. LOVE.
I paired this skirt with a high neck top in a gorgeous peach/orange shade with ribbed detailing. High neck tops are a staple in my wardrobe as they go with absolutely everything. This shade works so well with the pink throughout the skirt.
To accessorise, I also picked up this cute Straw Circle Cross-Body bag in black from Matalan. Straw bags have been all the rage the last few Spring/Summer seasons and you’ll be glad to know it’s here to stay. A straw bag instantly makes an outfit look spring ready and I cannot get enough of them.
To finish this look, I chucked on my trusty white boots that I feel ties every outfit together so well.
Again, this is a floaty garment that is spot-on for this season. The cropped sleeves and midi length make this outfit great for a colder spring day where you still need to be slightly covered up to keep warm. If you like to show off some skin, don’t let that put you off though, the plunging neckline helps keep this dress modern, fun and flirty.
I cinched my waist in with a large buckle belt to accentuate my shape and popped on my straw bag again to show for versatile this bag can be. And of course, I’m wearing my white boots. I adore them okay.
To complete this look, I chose this wee polka dot headband, also from Matalan, with the knot detailing to add a little bit of clashing print to my outfit, which is another style I love. Matalan have a wonderful range of headbands and jewellery which is always a winner. It’s all about the deets, right? I cannot wait to go back and raid the shelves of everything they sell.
I think you’ll agree that I found some beautiful pieces in Matalan and honestly, there was so much more in store that I could’ve purchased. Their midi skirt selection, in particular, is so dreamy!
I’d like to say a huge thank you to Matalan for inviting me along and the vouchers that helped me create these lovely looks.
Have you bought from Matalan recently? I’d love to see your top picks!
