  • Where have I been? | Mid year update

Sometimes life gets crazy and that’s exactly how the last few months have felt. I’ve had to take a step back from blogging and YouTube, much to my disappointment, due to other commitments i.e. a full time job, university coursework, holidays, oh and renovating our first house!

Work – Since September last year, I have been working at CALA Homes as a Marketing Assistant for a year’s placement during my 3rd year at university. This has been a brilliant opportunity to gain further experience in the working world and build useful relationships for when I – hopefully – graduate next summer.  It’s been great to get an insight into the marketing of a successful business and I now know that it is a field I would love to explore more as a future career. From the end of August, it will be time to find a new part time job as I aim to complete my final year of university. It’s been a long time coming!

Travel –  In June, Blair and I jet-set off to Mexico for our first holiday abroad together. We had a brilliant time: we swam with whale sharks (I’d highly recommend, what an amazing experience!), ate and drank far too much all inclusive food and cocktails and visited Chichen Itza which was beautiful. It was such a relaxing holiday and exactly what I needed to reenergise.

Birthday – I turned 24 last week so Blair and I went away for a long weekend to Inverness. We wandered about the city stumbling across beautiful scenes of waterfalls and the river. It was so nice to have a change of scenery for a few days.

House – Over the Spring months, Blair and I spent any free evenings we had together viewing potential homes. We eventually found one we both saw massive potential in and in went our offer! We got our keys at the end of June and ever since, we have swapped our evenings of house searching for major renovation. We have ripped out everything from every room and going to start again with a blank canvas. It’s hard, tiring work but I enjoy getting stuck in and hopefully soon I’ll be able to crack on with the interior design and see the finished outcome of our wee house. It will be lovely living with my best friend. Oh, and expect lots of interior posts coming soon!

Blogging – This month, I had my first ever paid blogging campaign with a local Aberdeen shopping centre, Union Square, which is something I’m very proud of. Not only did I get to work with brands that I love, but I got to do so in my home city. I hope I get the chance to work with Union Square again. View my post here.

Life should slow down again after September, so regular content will be posted again soon. Until then, I will enjoy my mad life.

Hope you are all having a fabulous summer and enjoying some well deserved time off.
