• If you had told me I’d be wearing animal print even a couple of …

At the end of last year, I was invited to the opening of a brand new hotel in Aberdeen. Situated near Aberdeen’s International Airport, this hotel – The Moxy – is the first of its kind in the UK and if the launch party was anything to go by, I think we will be seeing many more of these hotels popping up over the UK in top destinations.

Moxy Hotel is a fun, quirky brand that aims to bring the customer a boutique-feeling stay at an affordable price.

The magenta Moxy logo is vibrant and really sets the tone throughout the hotel.

Inside, we were greeted with a free bar that made cocktails on request and stocked a selection of drinks you could just help yourself to, such as wine, champagne and not forgetting local beer brand, Fierce Beer.

Now, I have never been a fan of beer but I actually really enjoyed this. Check them out here.

We also had the chance to grab some freebies which is always a nice perk! I especially loved the pick ‘n’ mix as it was a great snack for the post-drink ‘munchies’. Along with this, I also bagged myself some branded goodies like a nail polish, some pens, a luggage tag and a snap bracelet which has provided plenty entertainment since.

Throughout the night there was plenty entertainment and constant music. There were some speeches from the owners and we took part in a countdown to officially open the hotel which was exciting to be part of.

One of the best parts of the night was a special performance from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, a very well known, Scottish bagpipe bandI’ve never seen them perform before but I loved every second of it and I definitely want to go see them live again!

The hotel is all about fun and even sported some activities by the bar to play with while you were getting merry. I’m a kid at heart so I loved this.

If you were feeling hungry, which if you know me I always am, there were two food stalls to choose from – Fresh Mex (serving Tex-Mex style dishes) and The Bay Fish & Chip Shop, both of which are local to Aberdeenshire.

I opted for a delicious bowl of Fresh Mex nachos with with pulled pork and all the toppings. Incredibly good food!

Other entertainment during the event included visiting some of the bedrooms in the hotel – there were 3 to view and each had something different happening in them.

The first room was filled to the brim with balloons, the second had two men singing and playing guitar and the final room was a pillow fight room. Think feathers everywhere and you will know how everyone came out of that room looking.

If you wanted to, you could also sign your name on this lady’s body. Might seem strange at any normal hotel opening but not the Moxy!

Unlike any ‘normal’ hotel launch and if you were feeling brave, you could even get yourself a tattoo while partying. I’m actually surprised some people decided to go up and utilise this stall considering guests included bloggers and business professionals. One man even got a tattoo saying #AtTheMoxy. I think he worked for the hotel but even still, that’s dedication to the job!

It’s safe to say it was a very interesting night and one I won’t be forgetting. I had a lovely time with some lovely girls and hopefully we get to do something similar again soon!
