A Day in Glasgow | What we got up to

We decided to take a little trip down to Glasgow for Blair’s 26th birthday in late August. Originally, we were going to go snowboarding but instead, we decided to make it alcohol filled and go watch a Frankie Boyle set.

THURSDAY

We went down on the Thursday to our favourite wee hotel in the city centre, The Grasshopper hotel. It’s cheap, cheerful and supplies you with endless amounts of free cupcakes and ice cream  What more could you want?

Our little adventure started by going for some lunch at a local Wetherspoons for some quick food and a drink. I opted for chilli and we shared a pitcher of a gin cocktail, which was delicious. It helped start our day off right and gave us the energy to make the most of our trip.

After a browse at some shops, we headed along to The Spiritualist cocktail bar for some absolutely wonderful cocktails. I am currently in the process of writing my review on The Spiritualist, so stay tuned for that!

Slightly merry, we headed off to Frankie Boyle at the Theatre Royal. If you know who Frankie is, then you’ll know he is a brutal, no shit given comedian and I did enjoy him but some of the jokes are sometimes a bit much for me. Blair had a brilliant time though, which is why we went so that’s all the matters.

We finished off our evening with more drinks, like these rum cocktails from Brutti Compadres Platos Pequenos and then had a hearty McDonalds feast. The perfect way to end a night.

FRIDAY

After a long lie, nursing a little bit of a sore head on my part, we set off on hunt of a brunch cafe that we were recommended by a friendly Jack Wills employee that served us the previous day. Again, I will review this cafe in depth, but Wilson Street Pantry is ridiculously tasty and one I’d definitely suggest trying out if you are ever in Glasgow.

Once back in Aberdeen, we headed over to Oak Furniture Land and bought our sofa for our wee house – so exciting. You probably don’t care, but it’s exciting for me so now you know before heading to Atlantis Restaurant for my first Aberdeen Restaurant Week 2018 meal. You can read exactly what I thought of the restaurant here.

It was a fun couple of days and both myself and the birthday boy had a great time, but now it’s back to reality unfortunately! Hopefully we will manage to take another small trip away together sometime soon.

LOVE YA

I love your outfit in the first photo. All that food looks so good. It looks like you had a fab time in Glasgow – I love it when people recommend nice cafes to go to!
